Rising damp is a proliferation of water and damp beneath the under-floor and barricades of structures. It can be a general problem with old buildings that are constructed with brick or sandstone foundations. These substructures can serve as an absorber to the damp in the floor, soaking up water into walls and resulting in the unpleasant effects of rising damp.

Majority constructions that do not have damp course planted (a plastic lining) have more chance of Rising Damp. Sloppy workmanship amid the instalment of lump of concrete and poor water drain on high land gradient can also build genuine problems for home and building owners. Outdated or failed waterproofing membranes can also be the defaulter when looking for the source of error.
