Rising damp is a proliferation of water and humidity down the basement and walls of structures. It can be a general problem with old houses that are built with brick or sandstone basements. These substructures can function as a scrounger to the moisture in the floor, absorbing water into walls and resulting in the unpleasant effects of rising damp.

Majority constructions that do not have damp course installed (a plastic lining) have a greater chance of Rising Damp. Sloppy workmanship during the installation of lump of concrete and poor sewerage on raised land slopes can also devise deep challenges for home and building owners. Outdated or ineffective waterproofing pipe-line can also be the culprit when looking for the problem area.
